I attended the Broad Arrow auction on Wednesday 14th, perhaps the last day before the dragon of Monterey Car Week truly awakens.
This was my first 2025 Car Week event, and I loved the variety of brands, models and placement of cars, with the exception of hangars with lackluster lighting.
Behind the fence and row of jet planes, I could see preparations for the Motorlux happening on that same evening.
Classic
The headliners here were Italian and German: a 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 that sold for $2,562,500, a 1966 Lamborghini 400 GT Interim at $637,500, and a Series I BMW 507 in red that, for all its beauty, went unsold.
A late-build Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato Continuation rounded out the group as a throwback to 1960s Newport Pagnell factory — sold for $2.5M.
Competition
The record of the group belonged to a 1980 BMW M1 Procar, which sold for $1,600,000 — a new world record for the M1. At the modern end sat a 2022 Lamborghini Essenza SCV12, a track-only V12 built in a run of just 40 cars — sold for $1,490,000.
Modern
The modern supercars are where this sale rewrote the record books. A 2005 Maserati MC12 in white over blue led the entire auction at $5,202,500, becoming the most valuable modern Maserati ever sold at auction, and a 1997 Ferrari F355 Spider set its own model record at $337,750.
Verticals
A few of my favorites from the day, framed tall — from a tiny 1935 Fiat 508 Balilla to a Singer DLS and a Bugatti Veyron which surprisingly wasn’t a part of the auction.
