My first car auction ever, and I am starting on a high note. Pebble Beach Gooding&Co pavilion during the Monterey Car Week is a light version of the concourse field.
Obviously, rules of acceptance aren’t as strict, and everything is for sale, but that makes the display more exciting and — at times — relatable.
Display pavilions are large, well-organized and thought-through. Visitors feel comfortable and welcome. Coffee vendor is great, and there are plenty of vehicles to get an itch to spend money on something you don’t need.
Blue carpets and skylights in the central section make up for good pictures. Thursday is the best day to explore cars for sale — the crowd is thin and nothing is sold yet.

The choice of cars is broad and impressive: Porsche, Ferrari (accompanied by Fiat and Maseratti), Mercedes, domestic cars, Aston Martin and pre-war vehicles. Most cars appear to be in a fantastic shape.
Highlights for me were:
- Zagato coach-built cars:
- Aston Martin Vanquish Shooting Brake
- Lamborghini 5–95 (among many others Zagato cars present)
- Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible
- Plymouth Road Runner — Blue Fire color specifically
- Dino 246GT
- Ferrari 250 California Spider, which didn’t sell with 15M estimate
- 2024 Nissan GT-R Nismo (last year of production) — sold for $330 000
- Cord 812 Phaeton
Check out Gooding&Co website to see all auction lots. Lot pictures the do are very high quality.

I remember stopping by this same pavilion in 2022 and refusing to pay the $15 attendance ticket price to come inside and see vehicles. That was a huge mistake.
Fortunately, it will never be repeated! See you there in 2025.
